Out at the Wedding

Dir: Lee Friedlander
USA 2007
Digibeta 97 mins

A comedy cocktail with a splash of southern comfort and a twist, from the maker of Girl Play!

Transplanted Southerner Alex Houston lives a fabulous life as a wine importer in Manhattan. Complications begin when her bi-racial boyfriend, Dana, proposes the day before she returns to South Carolina for her sister's wedding. Believing her Southern family would never accept her ethnic boyfriend, she's never mentioned him - and she's led Dana to believe she's an orphan.

At the wedding, she meets relatives and friends from her past amazed she's still single - and when, inebriated, she gives a thinly veiled speech about her interracial relationship, everyone mistakenly thinks it's a big coming out speech.

Rather than confess the truth, she decides to find a real lesbian (a hot one - Cathy DeBuono!) to pretend to be her girlfriend. That's when things really start to get complicated……..
