Original Pride: The Satyrs Motorcycle Club

Original Pride: The Satyrs Motorcycle Club 2004 marked the 50th anniversary of the Satyrs Motorcycle Club, the oldest continuously active gay organisation in the world. This is the true story (in their words) of a bunch of "big burly biker pigs" and of how the club has weathered the slings and arrows of five decades of turbulent times to still thrive today. The Club has progressed from secret meetings, avoiding the cops and clashing with Hells Angels to holding large-scale public conventions. Inspired by Marlon Brando’s movie The Wild One the club started in the mid 1950s as a way of avoiding random arrests in gay bars by hitting the highway. With never-before-seen archival photos and film, and colourful commentary by the Satyrs’ eccentric members, Original Pride is a rip-roarin’ ride through a history unknown to many.
