April’s Shower is a romantic comedy about love (duh!), friendship and the expectations that go hand in hand with both. Disgruntled maid of honour Alex, a chef, has somehow found herself lumped with the responsibility of organising her best friend, and secret ex-girlfriend, April’s bridal shower. She’s anxious to make things perfect, but underneath bubbles a whole variety of emotions she struggles to keep a lid on once April arrives. With a wacky cast of party guests, both invited and otherwise, mounting sexual tension and the red wine flowing, the pre-wedding shindig spirals more out of control with each revelation, until we’re left wondering what might become of the wedding. April’s Shower gets to the heart of the meaning of commitment and leaves you asking yourself just how far would you go for love? (Melbourne Queer Film Festival)
