THAT MAN: PETER BERLIN
Dir: Jim Tushinski, USA, 2005, Beta SP, 80 mins
Drawn by Tom of Finland, photographed by Warhol, Peter Berlin was an international gay icon of the 70s. With his uncanny good looks he achieved overnight fame, and entered the fantasies of gay men worldwide, when he made two wild 16mm films – Nights in Black Leather and That Boy. Born in post-war Berlin, young Armin was aware of the power of his beauty from an early age. On moving to San Francisco (where he still lives) he took the name Peter Berlin and began working as a photographer and model. With contributions from John Waters and Armistead Maupin, this is the irresistible story of a most unusual life.
