Welcome to Out Takes 2004 Christchurch

Here at Reel Queer we’ve done our utmost to present an amazing range of feature film, documentary and short film marvels from around the world for your viewing pleasure! We hope you enjoy our first full colour programme, the opening night in the main auditorium at the Hollywood Theatre and the increased number of films on offer this year.

Our aim is to give queer New Zealanders access to films that reflect the diversity of our own lives and that connect us to queer communities around the world. Remember that mainstream cinemas and TV in this country would not normally screen these films – they’re too queer.

This is a great year for queer romance of the kind where ‘boy does get boy’ and ‘girl gets girl’ – so be sure to book early for this year’s sure-fire hits Eating Out, Latter Days, Robin’s Hood and our funny and charming Irish opening night film Goldfish Memory. On opening night there will be plenty of time for socialising, and even a meal, at the numerous bars and restaurants in the invigorating seaside location of Sumner!

Do make the most of this opportunity to catch up with friends and, of course, to enjoy as many of these wonderful films as possible. It’s thanks to our advertisers, supporters and regular filmgoers that Out Takes is able to return to Christchurch each year.
