No rating required Three excellent documentaries focus on gay minorities in surprising places. | |||
In That's Me, a moving, lyrical film from Zimbabwe, an anonymous
young transvestite talks about his attitude toward life, sexuality and
AIDS. A fascinating look at a largely unexplored area, Of Men And Gods
examines the daily existence of several openly gay Haitian men. Prevalent,
yet still taboo, homosexuality and gay culture are allowed to flourish
within the context of Haiti's voodoo religion. The stunning, award-winning
Terminal Bar is a kinetic, photo-driven record of one of the
toughest, grittiest gay bars in 1970s Manhattan as seen through a
collection of haunting B & W photographs.
