 THE GIFT

Dir: Louise Hogarth, USA, 2002, Beta SP, 62 mins

[Rating not confirmed]

The GiftThe Gift is a timely look at a fascinating and almost unbelievable phenomenon - the eroticisation of deliberate HIV infection. It shines a balanced yet uncompromising light on the effectiveness of HIV prevention strategies. Hogarth proposes that mixed messages continue to fuel a complex and potentially deadly game. The Gift features a young gay man, Doug Hitzel, who now bitterly regrets his decision to become infected with the HIV virus. Evenly presented and honest, Hogarth's film wades through very tricky and fragile personal and political waters without being preachy or judgemental.

The GiftThis session will be followed by a discussion.
