 We're back!  The Reel Queer team are delighted to be able to keep Out Takes on Dunedin's queer calendar in 2003 with a new and larger selection of films for this year's festival.

Damien and Andrea at the Dundas St Academy Cinema are hosting Out Takes this year.  We hope you'll make the most of this opportunity to enjoy these films in their friendly, intimate venue.

Ruthie And Connie: Every Room In The HouseOut Takes kicks off with two very entertaining films Ruthie And Connie (it's an uplifting doco that has been a tremendous crowd-pleaser at numerous festivals) and the outrageous Nine Dead Gay Gays.  Our two programmes of short films - Where The Boys Are and Reservoir Dykes - are eclectic collections of clever cinematic gems from various international queer filmmakers.

Nine Dead Gay GuysOne of the programmers' favourite docos at Out Takes this year follows the trials and tribulations of six very funny and creative men vying for the coveted title of Queen Of The Whole Wide World - their costumes are extraordinary!  It has been a good year for lesbian features, and Between Two Women and The Truth About Jane are two of the best at Out Takes.

Reel Queer is an incorporated society run on a non-profit basis by volunteers from the queer community. The censorship difficulties experienced by other local film festivals last year have reminded us of the importance of our objects, not least of which is to bring to New Zealand screens positive and challenging images that reflect the diversity of our lives and culture.
