Our programmers have
sought out the best feature films, documentaries and video for this year's
festival. We previewed over 400 films and we're excited about the
excellent quality and range of this year's offering, which includes more
lesbian features than we've ever screened before and wonderful films like Lan
Yu and Burnt Money that we've been
pursuing for two years!
The Reel Queer team also welcome our visitor, Joan Nestle - lesbian icon and subject of the excellent documentary Hand On The Pulse. Joan's visit is being supported by DOODS (Wellington). We urge you to take advantage of our bonus card offer this year; using one venue has simplified ticketing arrangements, so you can now buy tickets to six films for the equivalent adult price of five films. Reel Queer is an incorporated society run on a non-profit basis by volunteers from the queer community. The censorship difficulties experienced by other local film festivals last year have reminded us of the importance of our objects, not least of which is to bring to New Zealand screens positive and challenging images that reflect the diversity of our lives and culture. The Reel Queer team ...are David Herkt, Samuel Holloway, Alistair Kwun (Auckland); and the Committee: Jonathan Keate, Simon Fulton, Gavin Hamilton, Kim Chamberlain, Andy Best, Tamsin Evans; and Rebecca Moldenhauer (Wellington); Brion Corbett (Christchurch). | ||
